Locations in the world where money can be stretched the furthest

Looking for a cheap place to take a year off from western culture.
I just cant take the ridiculous politics and feminist nonsense any longer. I need a break.
I have about 30k american in savings and am very frugal.
Just want a nice place to relax in a cheap apartment and be able to cook food and go out and have a cocktail now and again.
Would love to go on a date where I am not in fear of being accused of rape if I dont call her back the next day.
Please help guys, I am at my wits end here.
I will come back and be productive in a year or two I promise.

If you cook for yourself then Panama might be interesting for you. Living cost can be high to 1$ a beer and 2.50$ lunch. Panama city has everything modern you could need and just 30 minute drive away you are at the Gatun lake in the jungle. You can rent a room for 100-250$ a month, depending on how far away you want to live from Panama city. I live in La Chorrera ( 32Km away from Panama city ) Vegetable market near, supermarkets,we have good internet and a good night life. If you are american then some girls can be a pain in ass, especially in the city. But in smaller bars/places everyone is cool. My mum and I ( we are germans ) we live with 1k$ per month. Keep in mind that we pay 450$ for rent and have 4 dogs. So of course you alone can live for a lot less.

PS: Also Panama has a huge Expat community

How did you import the dogs into it? Or did you get them there?

We got all of them here. But,importing a dog is not that dificult. You can even ask for home quarantine.

If you stay off the internet, you won't see any of this

Jesus man! the memes really got to you? the chance that a woman would do that is about 1 out of 1000 in the west.

In a poor country it is much likelier. Dating is much riskier in the third world. Women will do all times of shenanigans in order to get your money. In the west, for the most part, they just want you're cock

If you stay off the internet, you won't see any of this

Not true, I live in a very liberal area and all my friends and family are rabid socialist feminists.
The buyers regret thing women do is real.If they regret sleeping with you they can be horrible. Hell hath no fury and all that is as real as can be.
While I have not seen it get to the point of pressing charges, peoples reputations get pretty badly stained by this behavior.

I'm not a kid. I'm 30+ married with 2 kids and I have seen women do this in the military, as far as false accusations because they were spurned.

Here is a famous case. He was having an affair with her. He wouldn't leave his wife. She accuses him of rape. So he lures her saying they will go AWOL together nad murders her. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Maria_Lauterbach

Side note, word on the street is wife had something to do with the murder, too, and she got off scott free

Taking an year off from western culture seems like a great idea

However, it sounds like you're doing it for all the wrong reasons.

I've dated in the west and in the third world. It is much easier in the west, you don't have to be worried about getting scammed.

Don't let some screenshots of some bizarre rant on tumblr delude you into thinking we're in some kind of gender war in the west

Sorry to hear that you're at your wits end. If you want to get away to an inexpensive but beautiful and laid back place with great fresh food option then think: Laos or Mexico! The people are warm and the food is fresh and cheap

I visited Laos twice traveling from North to South. I used WorkAway.Info traveling through Mexico and got a chance to meet great people and did Ayahuasca

Is it of your interest to get to know the largest number of places possible or to get to know the most of the places you visit?

I tend to prefer the former. there is too much to know and not much time to know it all. But I get criticized all the time.

What is your opinion?

Don't you know what globalization is? Why would you think anywhere would be different?

What you need is to isolate yourself from the world on a remote ranch, which you can do anywhere if you have enough money.

Where in the world could I isolate myself on a remote ranch? What kind of money figures are we talking about for the inexpensive options? A remote ranch sounds like a dream.

Davao/Cebu in the Philippines

Saigon in Vietnam

Jakarta in Indonesia

All of those are uber cheap, fairly safe, and absolutely full of cute girls that love white Americans.

For my money I'd say Saigon.

Jakarta is hell compared to Manila

Kazakhstan.
Astana if you like a modern clean city.
Almaty if you like mountains and dirtier city.
It's fiercely anti western, but if you are white you would still blend in a lot better than SE Asia.

I'd argue differently that kazakhstan is fiercely anti western, if anything, almaty is probably the most western-oriented city you can find in central asia, that being said though, i love the city and it has lots to offer

It isn't that common for you to obsess about it. This will worsen your life. Avoid girls who would easily regret having sex (married, very religious etc) with you and the drunk ones.

I have witnessed this in the military and we have to take annual training on sexual assault prevention and response that teaches this. It's even more common in college.

This is literally "how much SJW nonsense and western authoritarianism we've exported to a country the map, also we like Saudi Arabia because you know why".

This, the west isnt any better than all of the anymore.
Well at parts it still is, but these are just leftovers from other times

but these are just leftovers from other times
And they're disappearing really fast.

i dont think anyone said that this is likely to happen to you if you have an encounter with a western woman. it does happen sometimes though

This is bad, but have you witnessed this?
The worst angry women have done to me is to offend me and just that.

surprised nobody suggested Kyrgyzstan yet
It's the best place ever
learn russian

Are you me?
literally one of the most based countries i've been into so far
nice people
good food
cheap af everything
>godly nature

godly nature
what did he mean by ths?

It is lit up by the heavenly light, and in reach of God's eternal love.

yes, I must be you. those are exactly the things I was thinking of. You forgotten to mention the abundance of people wearing funny hats.

cheers, me

It's taken directly from a Japanese dude living in Osaka so go away.

Philippines. Ticks all of your boxes.
And I wish I could join you.

Philippines is very similar to Western culture, due to their shared recent history. It's dirty, grimy and polluted. But the people are very friendly.

I would say Nepal if you really want to get away from it all. Probably the cheapest place on the planet to live month to month, If you like cannabis it grows wild there, it's very cheap and of decent quality. The people are relaxed, friendly and there is plenty of nature to surround yourself with/escape to if city/village life strains you ( we all need a break ).

Eastern Europe may be a good choice too. Poland is inexpensive, relatively modern and if you leave the big cities the focus of the people is family/religion like it used to be everywhere. Although in big cities you'll find the youth attempting to emulate Western ideals/values.

I'd still like to lay down my pros for Phils

Top beaches and night life per the dollar
Unlike the suggested Nepal where the entertainment value is climbing mt Everest.

Easy-going women
Some pump and dump, some to have a comfy relationship with.

Sizeable majority speaks English
To the best of their ability.

People already love Americans there
Which isn't something you hear often ayyy

Volcanoes
'nuff said

Yeah, chill is nice, but after a week any young man with some life in him would want some adventure and activities.

You make a good case.
I am a bit older though and nightlight for me would likely be just sipping scotch with some expats at a dive bar happy hour.
I am more into outdoor stuff like camping and fishing.
The fact that they like americans is huge.

Chiang Mai or Udon Thani, Thailand. Mature expat communities there. You can see pics of fishing and read about it in this thread.

You can live comfortably on about 30K Baht/ a month. That's less than $1K USD.

You can live comfortably on $1k USD practically anywhere, what makes this third world terrible place special? You can live with 1/3 of that in a normal Eastern European country where they don't behead you if you go outside of a major city.

>You can live comfortably on $1k USD practically anywhere

If you take out world class cities like London, Moscow and Tokyo, it's pretty true. A lot of american retirees live off a combination of social security and savings for about that.

500 rent
500 spending money
>free ota tv and libraries for entertainment

If you take out world class cities like London, Moscow and Tokyo

And the rest of Japan and nearly all of the US, UK, most of France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, all of Scandanavia except parts of Finland maybe, most of Spain....

You're right. There are vast swathes of the Middle East and Africa where that $1000/month will let you live "comfortably"

And the rest of Japan and nearly all of the US, UK, most of France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, all of Scandanavia except parts of Finland maybe, most of Spain....

Minimum wage in Japan is about 1000$, and the cost of living is less than 850$, so go away with your ridiculous misconceptions.

normal Eastern European country where they don't behead you if you go outside of a major city.

I'd be more worried about getting beheaded if I go outside an Eastern European city than Thailand. And what makes Eastern Europe not third world terrible places? The fact they are white?

Then you're retarded I guess.

No, I am black, though.

Hey, turns out I was right. I am happy that *black people* want to stay away from here. We don't need more half-intelligent class of football players.

You can't live on $333 in E Europe. Minimum is $600. Comfortable lifestyle. English is decent enough.

they're literally not third world terrible places because third world means countries that were neutral in the cold-war, and eastern Europe and former Warsaw Pact are synonymous terms

Missing the point. What specifically are the places that are better and cheaper than the aforementioned Thailand and Philippines? Is it true that you will get beheaded there? Where are the third world terrible places that you are talking about?

You are correct about the original meaning Third World. You are incorrect if you mean to imply that meanings of words and phrases do not change over time.

Third World, in the vernacular, is often used to designate the undeveloped world.

I'd be more worried about getting beheaded if I go outside an Eastern European city

I think you fell for the "white people are just as messed up as hellskins" meme

EE is largely developed and has low crime rates. If you get lost people will help you. Go to a bad part of thailand and good luck.

You can live with 1/3 of that in a normal Eastern European country where they don't behead you if you go outside of a major city

Where and what do you mean by this? On both accounts. Where in Eastern Europe can you live well on $333 USD and what kind of lifestyle is it? How is English there? Where are the third world terrible places that you would be beheaded? Thailand like the post you are responding to? As is the subject of the OP, I legit want to know your suggestions to go to and stay away from.

Okay, since I originally entered the term "comfortably" into the conversation, let me clarify.

live in a Western standard accommodations
be able to eat out and have money for entertainment regularly to a western standard
be able to save money for emergencies/spikes in spending a.k.a. live without worry or have something catastrophic destroy you financially aka not living check to check.

I rounded to $1K but 30K Baht is actually about $860. In Bangkok you'd want 40K Baht, which is about $1145-1150 USD. What other city with the amenities of Bangkok could you live on that?

Really good post, thanks!

I'd just go top Mexico for a bit. It's close, friendly and cheap

The exchange rate is definitely great for americans right now.

of course this is true everywhere

of course this is true everywhere

Not Europe.

The dollar is pretty strong against the euro right now.
And its absolutely raging against norway and sweden right now.
Best time to visit norther europe this century.

The Exchange rate doesn't even matter that much. If you're in Germany, and you buy groceries at Aldi or Lidl, you can get a week's worth of groceries for 50 euros or so. In America you'd easily spend twice or thrice as much.
Even if the euro is stronger than the dollar, you're still at a disadvantage if you travel from Europe to the US

You can get groceries at wal mart for that much easy . maybe less.
And we have aldi here too

d of duration are you looking for? Days, weeks, months, years?

damn did I right this.. I'm in the same situation atm

North korea seems to be high on the scale

Prague and Belgrade aren't a bad options

Don't move to the Yukon, we're full

... I .... I am driving from Alaska to the lower 48 later this month.... How could you have known that???
